Santa Fe Trail Festival: June 13–15, 2008
Trinidad (Southeast Travel Region)
The Santa Fe Trail was a major thoroughfare that bisected the town of
Trinidad. Popular with 19th-century pioneers, a stop at Trinidad
provided much-needed rest and supplies. The Santa Fe Trail Festival is
held in honor of this important pioneer route and will feature historic
reenactments, live entertainment, craft makers, food and a special area
where kids can enjoy pony and carnival rides.

Greeley Independence Stampede, June 25–July 6, 2008
Greeley (Front Range Travel Region)
During the Greeley Stampede, raging bulls kick dust in the air,
Stetson-wearing ranch hands prove their worth, and art, powerful enough

Independence Stampede - two weeks of genuine Western fun. The event is
accented on the Fourth of July with country and western concerts and
fireworks following performances.

Cripple Creek Donkey Derby Days: June 27–28, 2008
Cripple Creek (South Central Travel Region)
The residents of Cripple Creek have been holding this whimsical event
since the 1930s. Using donkeys descended from those of the mining days,
they race around a specially designed course for top honors. In addition
to this novel race, concessionaires and local businesses get involved.
Events and activities at this year's event include sand sculpting,
bungee jumping and a petting zoo.

Steamboat Springs (Northwest Travel Region)
In a salute to the Old West, Steamboat Springs celebrates America's
birthday in an old-time way. The festivities are heralded by a parade
through town. Later in the festival, a cattle drive will be led through
downtown streets, just as cowboys in the area did more than 100 years
ago. At night, the star-saturated sky of this high-mountain town will be
set ablaze with the pop and fizz of fireworks.
