May 17–18: 8th Annual Indian Market & Powwow
Morrison (Denver Area Travel Region)

The mesmerizing and tradition-rich regalia, dances and music of Southern and Northern Plains tribes will be among the many traditions showcased at the Indian Market & Powwow. Complete with juried crafts for sale by critically acclaimed American Indian artists, this event is the largest of its kind in Colorado. The event will take place on the grounds of The Fort restaurant, whose adobe construction is a near-exact replica of Bent’s Old Fort in Southeast Colorado.

June 7: Manitou Springs Colorado Wine Festival
Manitou Springs (South Central Travel Region)

Colorado’s wine industry is starting to turn heads, and wineries at the Manitou Springs Colorado Wine Festival will be pouring from their best casks. Sample finely crafted wines from Colorado vintners who use the state’s perfect climate to grow sugar-rich grapes that produce stellar wines. The event will be held in Soda Springs Park, where green spaces and a babbling creek accent viticulture delights. If wine isn’t your forte, the town also offers a natural spring water tour, on which Soda Springs Park is a stop.

June 13–14: 15th Annual Colorado BBQ Challenge
Frisco (Northwest Travel Region)

The wafting smell of barbecue is hard to resist, especially when it comes at you from the grills of first-class competitors. During Frisco’s Colorado BBQ Challenge, barbecue aficionados will put their best recipe forward while competing for top honors. Regardless of who takes home the prize, visitors are sure winners, as they get to sample some of the best barbecue in Colorado. For an added bit of whimsy, visitors can catch pig races during this two-day event.

June 13–15: Dandelion Daze
Holyoke (Northeast Travel Region)

Highly polished chrome gleams under a prairie sun and engines built in big-block fashion rev to the red line as classic-car enthusiasts parade their machines through downtown Holyoke during the Grease Lighting Parade. For years, this parade of classic cars has been one of the opening acts to the three-day Dandelion Daze, a showcase of cars and the power under their hoods. Other events include antique tractor pulls, burnout demonstrations, antique auctions and an amateur rodeo.

Hotchkiss (Southwest Travel Region)

In Hotchkiss — a town known for its sheepherding — the 5th Annual North Fork Bluegrass & Roots Music Festival will bring music lovers together from around the nation. There’s nothing rushed about this town, and this toe-tapping, knee-slapping family-friendly affair keeps with that code. Musicians from around the region descend on this tiny community to provide an extended weekend of inspired music and easy-to-come-by fun.

Estes Park (Front Range Region)

Textiles have been both a creative outlet and necessary product of human life for eons. The tradition of creating goods from natural fibers continues at Estes Park’s Wool Market, one of the largest natural-fiber markets in North America. Hand-made items, demonstrations, contests and even a children’s tent are all available during this free event. In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to interact with Colorado-born-and-bred alpacas and llamas.

June 27–29: NSRA Rocky Mountain Street Rod Nationals
Pueblo (Southeast Travel Region)

The rumble of perfectly tuned engines, the glint of chrome under a prairie sun and more than 2,000 proud classic-car owners converge in Pueblo during the National Street Rod Association Rocky Mountain Street Rod Nationals. To qualify as an entry, all cars must be custom-made, pre-1948 machines. Car buffs will find inspiration for their own automobiles and general car lovers will be drawn to the masterful creativity of entrants.
